New recreation complex to Bring Pool, Gathering Spaces to Audubon

Design work is complete on a 5.5-acre recreation complex that will bring a resort-style pool, event building, food truck lane, and more to Montgomery County’s Audubon in its first phase.

NEW RECREATION CENTER IN MAGNOLIA 

A large covered pavilion will anchor a resort-style pool that will feature dual zero-entry access for young swimmers as well as Baja tanning shelves with in-the-water seating. Cabanas provide ample shade.

Behind the pavilion will be a shaded gathering yard and gathering green that will be adjacent to a food truck lane. An 8-foot trail encircles the recreation complex, connecting it to nearby homes. Boucher Design Group designed the Club Audubon building and SLA Studio Land designed the site plan for the recreation center. Part of the planned complex borders Audubon Elementary School, an estimated $41 million Magnolia Independent School District campus that is expected to open in August 2024.

“We’re excited to take our amenity offerings to the next level, adding to the already abundant amenities found throughout Audubon,” said Sam Yager, Vice President of Audubon Magnolia Development, LLC.

Last year, Audubon opened Legacy Park in the Audubon Park District. Legacy Park is one of the small parks that make up Audubon Park, an approximate 706-acre communitywide park system. Legacy Park offers a playground and bird and butterfly habitats. A trio of oak trees provide a shady sitting area overlooking the children’s play area. Tree swings hanging from a nearby cluster of oaks add to the appeal. Within Legacy Park, many species of birds can be discovered throughout the year, Yager said, and raptors, song birds, and water birds can be spied in the park’s various wildlife habitats. A loggia with bench swings overlook a wooded area. Hummingbird feeders and other bird feeders have been placed throughout the park.

“Picnic tables make Legacy Park ideal for picnics,” Yager said. “Future interpretive signage tell the story of the butterflies and birds that can be found throughout the park.” Also open, is Screech Park in the Heron Heights neighborhood located in the Creekside North District. The park offers a play structure, swings, bench seating, activity lawns, trails, and a Screech Owl habitat.

Seven builders offer transitional style homes in Audubon, with pricing from the $280,000s to the $800,000s. Many of the homes at Audubon are built on lots that back up to lush natural landscapes featuring lakes, legacy trees, natural creeks, trails, and walkable parks with an abundance of greenspace.
